August 17, 2006 - Hike to the Grosser Rettenstein and Spiessnägel

The goal of this day: the Grosser Rettenstein (2362 m). I parked my car in Aschau a bit futher than the Oberlandhutte on 1011 m. From there I went to the Sonnwendalm, the Schöntalalm (1600 m), the Schöntal Quelle (1796 m) and from there straight to the top of the Grosser Rettenstein (2362 m). When descending from the Grosser Rettenstein, I didn't take the same path back, but I turned left and went in the direction of the Rettensteinjoch (1929 m). From the Rettensteinjoch I continued over a beautiful ridge to the Spiessnägel (1881 m). From that summit, I descended to the Hirzeckalm (1600 m) and the via the Grundalm back to my car.
